A huge thank you to Birmingham City FC and to the club’s supporters. The British Polio Fellowship joined the club at St. Andrew’s yesterday as they marked the 55th anniversary of the death of Blues player Jeff Hall who lost his life to Polio in 1959. Jeff’s death was a key factor in increasing the uptake of Polio vaccine in the UK and the Fellowship joined with the club to remember Jeff and the legacy that he left.
The day was a huge success, we were joined by 30 members so of the Sant Nirankari Mandal Centre who deserve special thanks for their efforts. The Fellowship shared a video with over 17,000 fans explaining the history of Jeff Hall, the story of Polio in the UK and the issue of Post Polio Syndrome. We were also able to raise funds for the Fellowship to help in our ongoing efforts to help and support people dealing with the effects of Polio and PPS.
