Apply for a reserved parking bay

Did you know you could be eligible to apply for a reserved parking bay outside or near to your home?

Thanks to The Equality Act 2010, local councils are providing disabled residents with an opportunity to apply to have an advisory disabled parking bay placed directly outside, or near to their home.

To be eligible to apply you will need to:

  • Hold a current Blue Badge.

  • Live at the address where the parking bay is needed.

  • Have no off-street parking nearby suitable for you, such as a driveway or garage.

  • Frequently use the vehicle that will be parked in the bay.

  • Experience difficulties in parking near to your home.

The name of the form and the application process will vary dependant on where you live. Nevertheless, you will need your Blue Badge number and the date of its expiration in order to complete the form.

Below is suggested advice on the name of the form and who to contact. You should also make sure to check their specific eligibility criteria and application process.

England: go to your local or borough council website and search for Disabled Parking Bay

Wales: go to your local or borough council website and search for Disabled Parking Bay

Scotland: go directly to https://www.mygov.scot/disabled-parking-space (Disabled Parking Space)

Northern Ireland: go directly to https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/accessible-parking-bays (Accessible Parking Bay)

If you do not have access to a computer you are advised to phone your local council for advice.

Do let us know your experiences and hopefully successes!
